I posted a week or so ago about the car accident that I was in. Remember that? Yeah, me too. Apparently there was a lot more damage than I thought, and my car was deemed a ‘total loss’ while I was out in California. That’s what you want to hear. I immediately called my dad wondering what I was supposed to do, where would be the best place to find a car, and generally have him calm me down a little. He is REALLY good at calming me down over the phone. He suggested that we look at the same place that we got my old car (RIP), a family friend’s lot in Nebraska.
We ended up finding a great car for me (low enough mileage, price within my budget, and only a few years old!) Committing to buying a vehicle that you’ve only seen online and haven’t looked at in person usually wouldn’t be a smart thing to do, but as I said, the car was coming from a dealer that is an old family friend. My sister’s car came from this lot, my old car (still upset that it’s gone!) came from this lot, and we know that he doesn’t sell clunkers that look really nice on the outside but will need parts replaced ASAP.
You guys, this car is AWESOME! It’s another Civic, and it’s so shiny and pretty and the inside is so nice and it has that feature where I can scan the radio and adjust the volume and do other stuff from the steering wheel! I’m so fancy!
Getting the car was quite the adventure. I flew to St. Louis, changed planes, met my mom at the gate, and then we both flew to Omaha. My bff Kelsey picked us up at the airport and drove us to the lot. There, I made my most expensive purchase to date, signed the papers, and drove off! Then came the FUN part! Most of my mom’s family lives in Omaha, and we surprised ALL OF THEM! Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, the whole lot! Thankfully they were home!
My mom and I drove down to Oklahoma that afternoon and spent the night there. On Sunday we finished the trip to Dallas and made a stop at Cracker Barrel along the way to have a makeshift Easter supper. Next step with this car- give it a name! Yes, I am one of those people that names their cars. My last civic was named Kirby… what should I name this one?!?
