Happy August! I would say that I can’t believe that it’s already August, but I take one step outside in the hot hot hot Texas heat and yes, I very much can believe that it’s August. Gimme shade, and water, and the indoors actually. But really, I went to a baseball game over this past weekend and it was SO hot and SO sticky- I felt SO gross after being there for only like 10 minutes.
Anyway, back to the point of this post. A new month brings a new focus for me, and this month it is mental health.
I’m not honestly sure what I’m going to get out of this month or how to measure it, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try! I always feel really great, mentally and spiritually and emotionally, when I am diligent about journaling, so I’m going to try and do that every day for the next month. Usually, for me, I do this when I have my quiet time (reading and studying the bible) but you can also do it when you wake up in the morning, when you are about to go to sleep at night, or just when you find a quiet moment in your day.
If you’ve never done this sort of thing before, don’t worry, it’s easy and fun and can help you work through things you didn’t even think were issues or help you get out thoughts you just needed to not keep in your head anymore. There’s really no right or wrong way to do it. Just do it! I found some links about getting started that might be helpful.
I want to invite you, like always, to do this along with me for this month and see if it will help your mental health, too. Instead of a regular journal, I think I’m going to do mine in my planner. I really don’t write much stuff i nit so there will be plenty of space each day for me to write my thoughts, prayers, emotions, or whatever is on my mind at the time.
